Disney Interactive has introduced two new software titles aimed straight at young girls: Disney Girlfriends and Disney’s Cinderella Dollhouse. Each title is oriented towards girls of different ages, and feature characters from different Disney movies.
Disney Girlfriends brings to life what Disney calls its “modern princesses:” Ariel from The Little Mermaid , Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Jasmine from Aladdin . Each character hosts different activities and games. The game also features an online component that enables girls to connect to a secure server on Disney’s site so they can chat with each other, exchange e-mails and share in collaborative activities.
Activities on the CD-ROM include:
and much more.
Disney Girlfriends is distributed as a hybrid CD-ROM for Windows and Mac OS and carries a suggested retail price of US$19.99.

Disney’s Cinderella’s Dollhouse is oriented for girls ages four and up who want to furnish, decorate and play in a fairy-tale home. The game lets kids decorate Cinderella’s Chateau, where she spends time with her stepmother and two stepsisters, as well as the Palace where she lives with her Prince. Girls can apply decorating skills to the Kitchen, Parlor and Mouse House of the Chateau, and once they’re done there they can graduate to the Palace to furnish Cinderella’s Bedroom, the Garden and Ballroom. The game features hundreds of pieces of furniture, fixtures and accessories.
Of course, decorating a dollhouse is boring unless you can pretend it’s filled with life, and here’s where the interactive part of Disney’s Cinderella’s Dollhouse comes into play. Once players are done decorating, they can populate the houses with animated characters seen in Walt Disney Pictures’ Cinderella . Cinderella and her friends will then react to each other and the designs around them. The game also features surprise animations and clickables. Additional decorations can also be downloaded from the accompanying Web site.
Like Disney Girlfriends, Disney’s Cinderella’s Dollhouse ships on a hybrid CD-ROM with support for both Mac OS and Windows. The game carries a suggested retail price of $19.99.
