Apple has posted a Knowledge Base document that lists the USB digital cameras compatible with Image Capture, a utility included with Mac OS X. This document lists those cameras that support Image Capture specifically through Apple’s recently released 10.1 update.
Image Capture is designed to easily facilitate the manipulation of digital images produced by digital cameras. The software automatically recognizes dozens of USB-equipped digital cameras when they’re connected to the Mac, and enable users to see thumbnail views of images, rotate them, and delete them before actually downloading the pictures from the camera. Image Capture can also import movies and audio from compatible cameras, and can synchronize the camera’s date and time to the Mac’s own clock.
Cameras supported by 10.1’s Image Capture application include:
Canon
Hewlett Packard
Olympus
Epson
Casio
Fuji
Kodak
Sony
Nikon
Card Readers
The list of compatible devices doesn’t necessarily end there, either. Apple noted that other devices will work as long as they support Mass Storage, Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) or Digita. Any other device whose vendor develops a plug-in to work with Image Capture will work, as well.
