Developed to replace the NEC MultiSync LCD1530V, the new display is the second thin-frame LCD monitor to come out under the NEC moniker — it joins the NEC MultiSync LCD1850X.
NEC-Mitsubishi product specialist Scott Hoaglund said in a recent statement that the low price point of the LCD1550V is an example of his company’s focus on delivering affordable flat panel displays to corporate buyers and mainstream consumers. “By integrating the latest thin-frame technology in our new line of monitors, we enable users to enjoy the space efficient, energy effective and overall cost saving benefits of LCD monitors.”
The display is available either in black or white cabinets. It weights about 8.4 lbs and measures 2.4 inches deep. NEC said that the LCD1550V can be situated flush against other monitors, mounted on an flexible arm or even mounted on a wall in a standalone configuration. The company explained that the slim casing enables the display to save up to 12 percent more horizontal space than its predecessors.
The display operates with a native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and features NEC-Mitsubishi’s On Screen Manager display controls. The LCD1550V features a backlight at 200 cd/m2. It’s an analog display and it comes with a standard 15-pin D-sub VGA connector.
Look for the display through authorized NEC-Mitsubishi dealers for an estimated street price of $399. The LCD1550V comes with a three-year limited warranty and 24/7 tech support.
