IOGEAR has introduced its next generation USB 2.5-inch external hard drive enclosure, ION. IOGEAR’s device will store and archive data and is both Mac and PC compatible, company spokesperson Katie Assar told MacCentral.
The ION purportedly transfers data 40 times faster than previous USB 1.1 solutions. Due Nov. 10, it will sport a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$119. And it’s Mac OS X compatible.
The ION comes with a USB 2.0 compliant cable, power cable and one-year warranty. Of course, you’ll need an USB 2.0 PCI card from companies such as Keyspan, Adaptec or Orange Micro to use USB 2.0 products.
