When Mac upgrade maker Newer Technology went out of business, it left a hole in the Macintosh upgrade marketplace that two former Newer managers hope to fill. Terry Unrein and Jack Putnam recently started a new company called TechnoWarehouse which carries Newer Technology products and provides sales and customer support as well.
Newer Technology upgrade products sold by the company include the MAXpowr G4 and G3 processor upgrades; NUpowr G3 upgrades for PowerBooks; USB peripherals; FireWire PC cards for PowerBooks; and docking stations. The company also makes available the latest product drivers and other support software once offered by Newer Technology. All products are guaranteed and come with a 30-day warranty.
Unrein explained in a recent statement that he and Putnam purchased Newer Technology’s stock at an auction following Newer’s demise — a move that made sense, he said, because of their first-hand knowledge of the products. Unrein is Newer’s former product manager and Putnam was the company’s Engineering manager.
Putnam said that TechnoWarehouse isn’t just here to sell Newer’s closeout stock, either — the company’s long-term plan is to add products “that make sense” for their customers. The two co-founders said that they’ve added some of MCE’s PowerBook storage devices to the list already, as well as Village Tronic’s MPDD+ video card.
“We are working hard to meet our customer’s needs,” said Unrein.
