Econ Technologies claims that combining its Portraits & Prints solution with Mac OS X and a color printer gives you “your very own personal photo studio.”
Portraits & Prints lets you import and arrange snapshots for output on high-quality color printers. It boasts special tools for modifying each photo’s brightness, sharpness and saturation, as well as intelligent red eye reduction.
The software’s layout abilities allows photos to be printed in several ways, from simple duplicates to portrait sheets to colorful greeting cards, according to Econ spokesperson Joseph Japes. While the program comes with a variety of pre-defined templates, additional ones will be offered free from the Econ Technologies Web site. Furthermore, a soon-to-be-released template designer application will let customers create and distribute their own custom photo templates, Japes said.
Econ Technologies created Portraits & Prints as a native Mac OS X Cocoa-based application, taking full advantage of the Aqua user interface, pre-emptive multi-tasking, and protected memory. Portraits & Prints supports Mac OS X “services”, allowing it to interact with other OS X applications to print, import data or export data. It’s also scriptable.
Portraits & Prints requires Mac OS X or later and a color printer. Optional supported hardware includes digital cameras and scanners. Portraits & Prints will be available online starting Oct. 31 at a special introductory price of US$19.95.
