Baseview has stopped development on their plug-ins for linking their newspaper editorial system to Adobe InDesign 1.5.
“The long and short of the matter is that Adobe significantly changed the architecture of InDesign version 2.0 and announced it before we ever had a chance to complete testing our InDesign 1.5 implementation,” Victor Cardoso, Baseview’s editorial product manager, told MacCentral. “The architecture for 2.0 is also so different from 1.5 that we’re basically forced to rewrite those plug-ins from the ground up.”
Couple that with “an almost non-existent demand for InDesign 1.x” from customers and “you can see why we would choose to not release a set of plug-ins that would be obsolete within four months,” he added. Baseview has instead chosen to focus on development for the 2.x platform, Cardoso said.
The company’s applications are designed to provide newspaper and magazine publishers with an integrated, end-to-end solution for managing, assembling, distributing and printing ads.
