Microsoft today offered
Internet Explorer 5.0 Service Release 1, a patch for Internet Explorer that corrects some problems. The 292K updater has been localized for various languages and is available for download from Microsoft’s Web site now.
The new Service Release — intended for the version of Internet Explorer on Macs still running Mac OS 7.6.1 – Mac OS 9.2.x — fixes the following problems:
The Windows Media Player, Macromedia Flash and Apple QuickTime plug-ins can cause Internet Explorer to stop responding.
The use of Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac and Internet Explorer 5.0 at the same time may cause Entourage to stop responding.
If you’re running Internet Explorer 5.1 or above, for Mac OS X, this service release does not apply to you. If you are using Internet Explorer 5.0, however, you simply need to download the patch from Microsoft’s Web site, run it and follow instructions on screen. It is free to download and use.
