Tribeworks has updated their multimedia authoring tool, iShell, to version 2.5 and announced plans for the annual iShell Developer Conference to be held Jan. 11-12, 2002 in San Francisco.
iShell is a QuickTime-native multimedia authoring suite that enables the creation of customized media players that launch from a Web site. iShell 2 added the ability to create customized streaming media players that can be authored and played on Mac and Windows/NT systems. iShell 2 players can be of any arbitrary shape and have the ability to play in the foreground or the background.
Version 2.5 includes several new Internet-focused features that are designed to simplify the transfer of secure information to and from remote computers. Plus, the local data engine has been rebuilt to work with visual data. And based on requests from existing customers, new features have been added such as dynamic font-loading and enhanced interoperability with QuickTime and Flash, according to Duncan Kennedy, president and CEO of Tribeworks.
iShell 2.5 is available on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. The software is available to iShell members at the Gold, Silver and Education levels. These member levels offers varying degrees of services including technical support, software access, documentation and discounts on third-party products.
iShell requires a Power Mac, Mac OS 8.6 or higher, 32MB of available RAM, a minimum of 10MB of free hard disk space, and QuickTime 4 or higher.
The iShell Developer Conference costs $595 for registered Tribeworks users. Current iShell commercial developers receive special attendance pricing. For more information on attending the 2002 iShell Developer Conference, e-mail Tribeworks.
