Phil Schiller, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, will be a keynote speaker at the DV Expo that runs Dec. 3-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The show is the largest conference and expo that focuses exclusively on the needs of creative video professionals involved in producing and distributing dynamic media. DV Expo presents specialized instruction in over 80 conference sessions and tutorials. Full-day intensives focus on lighting, motion graphics, and 3D character design and development. The expo hall showcases more than 100 companies exhibiting the latest digital video tools and technologies that are essential to producing compelling visual content.
Schiller will no doubt be talking about Apple’s digital hub strategy and products such as QuickTime, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, iMovie, iDVD, and all Apple’s hardware. Apple will also be a sponsor of the DV Film Fest, a big-screen presentation of independent digital film work. They will also co-sponsor the opening night welcome reception and sponsor technical sessions, along with Adobe, Pinnacle, Sony and others.
Besides Schiller, the other scheduled keynote presenter is Allen Daviau, director of photography for films including “Empire of the Sun” and “Avalon.” There’ll also be an evening panel with Jan Crittendon, group training manager at Panasonic; Laurin Herr, vice president of strategic development for the professional media division of Pinnacle Systems; Philip Miller, vice president of product marketing at Discreet; and Mike Rockwell, CTO of Avid. They’ll discuss where digital tools are headed in the new millennium.
