JAW software has released MPEG2Splitter, a utility for MPEG-2 movies that “splits” MPEG-2 files in smaller user-defined segments, manually or automatically, from any size source — even over the usual 2GB limit.
This comes in handy when you need to re-encode video using programs unable to manage files bigger than 2GB or just to split encoding tasks, according to
MPEG2Splitter requires a Power Mac with Mac OS 9.x and 3MB of available RAM. There’s no Mac OS X version yet. You can download a 15-day trial version from the
JAW software Web site. Registration for unlimited use costs US$15, and volume discounts are available.
