Earlier this month MacCentral brought readers news that Westlake Interactive had completed the Mac conversion of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Expansion Pack. Now Mac game publisher Aspyr Media reports that the new add-on pack is shipping.
Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force Expansion Pack is an add-on for the first person action game Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force. Based on the popular television show, the game puts you in the role of a member of a special security force on board the Federation starship Voyager as it continues on its way home to the Alpha Quadrant. The game incorporates both an extensive single-player mode and a “Holomatch” multiplayer mode that enables you to take on all comers over a LAN or the Internet.
The add-on pack introduces a new interactive tour mode that lets you explore the ship itself. Twenty-one new multiplayer maps have also been included and new characters (including a Borg-assimilated Captain Janeway) have been added. New single player missions with new alien creatures are available and a new “Borg Slayer” game is available with the add-on. The expansion pack requires the original game in order to work.
System requirements call for a PowerPC G3 300MHz or faster; Mac OS 8.6 or later with CarbonLib 1.2.5 or higher; Mac OS X compatible (10.0.2 or later recommended); 64MB RAM; OpenGL 1.1.3 or higher; 3D accelerated PCI or AGP video card with at least 6MB VRAM (ATI RAGE 128 or better); 560MB uncompressed hard disk space; 128MB Virtual Memory; 4x CD-ROM. Multiplayer action requires TCP/IP-based Internet or LAN access; Internet requires 28.8 Kbps modem or faster.
The Elite Force expansion pack includes a Carbon update, to make the original game and the add-on playable on Mac OS X. The Carbon update is expected to be released shortly as a downloadable upgrade, as well. The Expansion Pack is available only by ordering it directly from Aspyr. The add-on costs US$19.95.
