Minds@Work today announced a new line of FireWire and USB-equipped portable hard drives called MindStor. The pocket-sized battery-powered hard drives come equipped with digital media card readers and are aimed at digital photographers and other professionals who need quick, portable storage.
MindStor drives will be available beginning next month in 5, 10 and 20GB capacities, with suggested retail prices running US$329, $429, and $529 respectively. Minds@Work will also bundle a choice of three PC card adapters, either for CompactFlash, SmartMedia or Sony Memory Stick.
Earlier this year Minds@Work introduced the Digital Wallet storage device, with capacities from 3 to 20GB. Minds@Work CEO and president Marc Ganouna explained that MindStor is a continuation of the same design concept. “MindStor will offer the same reliable storage capabilities with new, exciting features,” said Ganouna.
Features of the new MindStor line include:
The MindStor incorporates its own RISC processor, an on-board operating system and a 2.5 inch hard drive, and a rechargeable battery pack. Minds@Work said that the MindStore family supports all popular memory cards and is compatible with both Mac OS and Windows.
