Snap Appliances, a subsidiary of Quantum Corp., is showing off its workgroup Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions at this week’s EDUCAUSE education conference in Indianapolis, IN. The company is also providing interested institutions with info on its new enhanced SnapAccess Reseller Program.
The redesigned reseller program focuses on increasing Snap Server revenues to value added resellers (VARs) with additional sales and marketing support. It features two member levels, Certified and Premier. Premier members will receive new benefits in exchange for meeting certain requirements including sales volumes. Each Premier member’s sales and technical support teams must also receive on-site training and certification every six months. Premier members will have a designated Snap Server sales member, who will assist with end user sales calls each quarter.
Additionally, any members of the former SnapAccess Program who were Authorized members will now receive additional benefits as Certified members, including marketing materials, direct mail campaigns and a dealer locator listing on the Snap Server Web site, according to Jim Simon, director of channel marketing of Snap Appliances.
The Snap Server product family includes the desktop model Snap Server 1000 40GB (US $499, manufacturers suggested retail price) and 80GB ($799), and the Snap Server 2200 160GB ($1,499). The Snap Server 4100 240GB ($2,999) and 400GB ($4,799) are 1U rack-mountable units. The Snap Server 12000 ($14,999) is a 3U 960GB product featuring hot swap drives and redundant hardware for corporate departments and large workgroups. Snap Server appliances provide automatic, simultaneous multi-platform file-sharing support for Mac, Windows, Novell and UNIX/Linux users on the same network.
