Keyspan today announced that it’s shipping Mac OS X drivers for its USB serial adapter line. The drivers support Keyspan’s Twin Serial Adapters, its PDA adapter and its High-Speed USB adapter for 9-pin serial devices.
The devices are used to connect older serial port-compatible devices to Macintoshes that have USB ports or PCI expansion card interfaces. Apple transitioned away from installing serial ports on its computers when it adopted USB.
Keyspan president Mike Ridenhour noted that some USB connectivity vendors aren’t supporting Mac OS X. “In contrast, since day one, Keyspan has supported USB on the Mac platform and the Macintosh community can count on us to continue to support Mac OS X,” said Ridenhour.
The new drivers are available for download from Keyspan’s Web site and are also available on install CDs shipped from the company.
In related news, Keyspan also said that finished Mac OS X drivers for its SX Pro PCI serial card and its Digital Media Remote would be available before the end of the year. Public beta versions of drivers for both products are now available.
