Yes, we know that there’s constant talk of an Apple branded personal digital assistant (PDA), though Apple itself denies such plans. But the speculation of such a device was fueled this week by reports that Inventec Corp., one of Taiwan’s largest notebook computer makers, had a contract to make 600,000 Apple PDAs per year.
A story in The Economic Daily News even said that shipments of Apple PDAs would begin in the fourth quarter of 2001. However, “no one knows anything about winning Apple orders,” Inventec Finance Manager Lee Kui-lan told Reuters .
The company does have a unit that makes PDAs, but apparently not Apple units.
