Lexar Media is in attendance at this year’s Photo Plus Expo in New York, and along with some product announcements and bundling deals, they have good news for Mac OS X 10.1 users.
European photographers may be interested to learn that Lexar Media and Nikon have partnered to introduce the Premiere Power & Memory Kit. It’s comprised of a Li-ion battery and a USB-enabled 4x speed, 64MB CompactFlash Memory Card. The kit has been specifically tailored for the Nikon CoolPix 775, 885 and 995 digital cameras. Available at authorized Nikon dealers throughout Europe, the kit is £129.99, or £90 when bundled with a CoolPix camera.
In other European news, Lexar recently signed ElectronicPartner and Kaufring group to expand its product distribution in Europe. Lexar reported that ElectronicPartner would offer Lexar Media’s complete line of digital film and readers to more than 6,500 retail stores throughout Germany. The Kaufring Group, meanwhile, will work with Lexar to develop in-store digital photography programs showcasing their products — the company works with more than 400 major department stores and 1,500 individual retail accounts.
Lexar is also showing Photo Expo Plus showgoers its new 16x CompactFlash Digital Film. Announced in October but debuting here at the show, the 16x rated memory cards are capable of a minimum sustained right speed of 2.4MB per second, thus reducing the amount of time it takes for many digital cameras to read and write to digital media.
Lexar Media product marketing director and self-proclaimed Mac bigot John Omvik shared some good news with MacCentral. He told us that Lexar’s FireWire Compact Flash Digital Film Reader now works with Mac OS X, thanks to Apple’s release of Mac OS X version 10.1. The device transfers data up to 4 times faster than a USB reader, according to Lexar.
