iBooks and PowerBooks have survived the EcoChallenge expedition race, according to a report by Rob Galbraith.
Seven photographers from Blue Pixel studios were there for the race, using Apple laptops and Nikon D1X cameras to capture images from the event for USA Network, Discovery Canada, Sony AXN and others. The Eco-Challenge is an expedition race in which teams of four race non-stop for 6-12 days, 24 hours a day, over a rugged 300-mile course.
The Mac loving photographers carried with them PowerBook G4/400 Titanium laptops with 640MB or 1GB of RAM and used them as the primary editing stations. They also had several iBook G3/500 laptops with 320MB RAM on hand, as well. For a complete list of photographic and technical gear used, see Galbraith’s report.
