CTM Development has announced the first public beta release of the next version of PowerMail, its US$49 e-mail application for the Mac.
PowerMail is the company’s flagship e-mail application. Developed as an alternative to Microsoft Outlook Express and Entourage, as well as Qualcomm’s Eudora, PowerMail sports high performance search functions, compatibility with Japanese, Chinese, Hebrew and other non-Roman languages, and what the company calls “a state-of-the-art Mac-like design.”
PowerMail offers native support both on Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6 to 9.2.1. The public beta contains over 20 new features including the long-awaited return of PowerMail’s support for the IMAP 4 rev1 protocol, AppleScript improvements and full support for Mac OS X 10.1, as well as over 50 bug fixes and enhancements.
PowerMail 3.1b1 is now available as a single disk image containing both Mac OS X and Classic versions. English and French user-interfaces are also included and selected automatically based on the operating system language. PowerMail 3.1b1 can be downloaded from the PowerMail.
