Say hi to eline Technologies’ new interactive video authoring application “VideoClix” for the Mac.
VideoClix is the premier software enabling content producers to build rich interactivity right into ‘Video Objects,’ allowing viewers to get feedback by clicking on actual items in the video, purchasing the products, playing along in game shows or voting — all without even having to stop the stream, according to Babak Maghfourian of eline.
“There are also a few other powerful tools like actions, chapters and text tools that users can utilize to create interactivity,” he told MacCentral. “There’s no scripting; it’s all click and drag.”
VideoClix is designed as a tool for creating videos for use in DVD/CD ROMs and for the Internet. It’s based on such standards such as QuickTime and MPEG-4. VideoClix enabled content can be served from any HTTP or RTSP server, tie into any database or eCommerce back-end and does not require additional plug-ins to view or interact with the content, Maghfourian said. The system provides companies with accurate consumer behavior and vital marketing data, as well, he added.
Supported file formats are QuickTime Movies, MPEG-1, AVI and Flash. A single user license is US$649; government and educational discounts are available. You can interact with sample projects — including James Bond, Motor Trend and Honda commercials — and download a trial version at the product Web site.
VideoClix is Carbonized, but there are some issues with QuickTime and Mac OS X as far as the Carbonization is concerned, Maghfourian said. He added that it runs “extremely well” under Mac OS 8.6 to 9.2, and “by Christmas it should be Mac OS X ready … before Macworld for sure.”
