Belkin today introduced a new line of USB media readers and writers. The new line is scheduled to ship mid-month and consists of different products for CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia and Secure Digital Cards.
The new line consists of four new products:
The USB Media Reader/Writer for CompactFlash — for US$29.95, it sports a dedicated slot that can accept both Type I and II cards.
The USB Media Reader/Writer for SmartMedia — a $34.95 single-slot USB device that can take a SmartMedia card.
The USB Dual Media Reader/Writer for CompactFlash and SmartMedia — as the name implies, a dual-slot device that can accept both types of media. It costs $49.95.
The USB Media Reader/Writer for MultiMedia Cards/Secure Digital Cards — a $29.95 interface for this newer flash media format, which is picking up steam with PDA and digital camera makers.
Belkin indicated that all four devices are bus-powered, negating the need to use an AC adapter or batteries. Each unit’s design enables it to be laid horizontally or vertically.
The new line of USB Media readers/writers will be available the week of November 12 from Belkin distributors, resellers and superstores.
In addition the USB Media reader/writers, Belkin makes a wide variety of cabling and connectivity products, mice, USB hardware, keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) devices, and other peripherals for Macs and PCs.
