Apple has released iPod Updater 1.0, one day before the diminutive digital device hits store shelves.
The iPod Updater is a utility that can either restore the device back to the factory defaults or update the software currently found on the machine. Apple notes that by restoring your iPod to the factory defaults you will lose all music and any other files on the device.
To use the iPod Updater, you simply plug in the device to your computer and double click the updater application; enter your admin password; and click on the update or restore button. When the update or restore is complete, quit the application and unplug the iPod.
iPod Updater 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.1 or Mac OS 9.2.1.
