Graphics chipmaker Nvidia has reported record revenues and earnings for the third quarter of fiscal 2002 that ended Oct. 28. Revenues increased to US$370.2 million, compared to $198.2 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2001, an increase of 87 percent.
Actual net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2002 was $44.7 million, or $0.26 per diluted share, compared to actual net income of $28.1 million, or $0.17 per diluted share, for the third quarter of fiscal 2001.
Revenue for the nine months ending Oct. 28 was $871.4 million, an increase of 69 percent compared to revenue of $517.0 million for the nine months ending Oct. 29. Actual net income for the nine months ending Oct. 28 was $104.1 million, or $0.62 per diluted share, compared to actual net income of $68.9 million, or $0.43 per diluted share, for the nine months ending Oct. 29, 2000.
Nvidia makes graphics processors used in personal computers and workstations, including the GeForce 2 and GeForce 3 chips used in Apple’s professional desktops. The company doesn’t make its own graphics cards, but it works with a variety of third-party card makers and computer manufacturers who integrate its chips into their board designs.
