Native Instruments says it’s the first manufacturer to offer virtual instruments for RTAS as well as Digidesign’s newly developed HTDM Plug-In formats. As a result of “extensive cooperation” between Native Instruments and Digidesign, Native Instruments will ship the B4 Organ, the PRO-52 vintage synth, and the BATTERY drum sampler this month as the Native Instruments Studio Collection Pro Tools Edition (PTE).
Native Instruments’ Pro Tools Edition ties award-winning creative instruments into all Digidesign Pro Tools systems on Macs. As a result of an extensive cooperation between Native Instruments and Digidesign, selected NI products now fully support the RTAS and HTDM interfaces to seamlessly integrate into Pro Tools TDM and LE, both companies claim.
The NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY PTE will also be available this month as a separate RTAS/HTDM Plug-In. The RTAS and HTDM Plug-In environments integrate Native Instruments software into Pro Tools. All NI PTE Plug-Ins support total recall of settings, full automation (including ProControl and Control|24 support) and multiple instantiation. The complete support of RTAS and HTDM guarantees maximum comfort and flexibility when using the NI software in the professional Pro Tools studio environment, according to Deborah Malave of Digidesign. HTDM is the new standard for host-based TDM plug-ins. HTDM plug-ins can be used exactly like DSP-based TDM plug-ins; for instance, in conjunction with all types of tracks (audio tracks, aux tracks, and master tracks) within a TDM system.
The NI RTAS/HTDM Plug-Ins utilize the native power of the host computer, and operate transparently with Pro Tools TDM and LE systems. The Native Instruments Studio Collection PTE will retail for US$999, while the NI-SPEKTRAL DELAY will retail for $499.
The B4 is the “perfect emulation of the most legendary organ of all time,” Malave said. In addition to supporting all features of the original 400-pound monster — including rotor, tube amp and distortion — the B4 also features a new software extension that gives the B4 the sound of a Vox, Farfisa or a Harmonium.
The PRO-52 emulates the warm and powerful tones of one of the most popular analog synthesizers of the 80’s with “stunning accuracy and convincing authenticity,” Malave said. The PRO-52 can even import original Prophet-5 system exclusive data, and adds an effects section to extend the original design.
The BATTERY drum sampler is the “most comfortable, flexible and powerful way to work with a large number of percussive and pitched samples,” according to Malave. Compatibility with all common sample formats and full drag and drop support assure complete integration into any professional’s setup, she added.
