REALbasic, the development environment from Real Software has been updated to version 3.5.2, which is a free download to registered users and can be downloaded from the company’s Web site, iDisk, or FTP site.
Applications built for the Japanese region that have Japanese characters in the application name now have the “plst” resource written correctly. The main place this was noticeable was in the application menu of Mac OS X.
Also as of REALbasic 3.5.2, using the Office plug-ins by dragging a control to the window no longer crashes if Office or the VBA libraries are not available. You’ll get an exception instead.
Since Apple has released OS 10.1 some users have reported significant crashing when using the Carbon version of the 3.5.1 IDE, according to Lorin Rivers of Real Software. REALbasic 3.5.2 includes a fix for this. REALbasic 3.5.2 also fixes the failure to load resources in the IDE when choosing “Run” from the menu (as opposed to CMD-R which does work); this behavior was introduced in 3.5.1.
