has released StuffIt 6.5.1, an update to the access and compression utility for the Mac. The update adds Contextual Menu support in Mac OS X to version 6.5’s Magic Menu implementation, smart expansion of Palm OS files, DropTar (a drop box compression utility for Unix), and StuffIt Express Personal Edition.
StuffIt Lite and StuffIt Deluxe 6.5 users should update for minor bug fixes and the new StuffIt Deluxe-Only Mac OS X Context Menu feature, according to Peter Thomas, StuffIt group product manager.
“Magic Menu and Contextual Menus are two of the popular ways to manipulate files and archives in StuffIt Deluxe,” he said in announcing the update. “Our Mac OS X users are thrilled to have this support and we’re happy to be able to provide it for free.”
StuffIt Deluxe has a street price of US$79.95. Registered owners of any previous version of StuffIt Deluxe, DropStuff and DropZip can upgrade to StuffIt Deluxe 6.5.1 for $19.95,
