Quad/Graphics has announced the release of
RasterLab. It’s a new Internet portal for RGB-to-CMYK conversions and color processing for digital images. The company said that the new portal can accommodate an unlimited number of images from any one client and completes conversions and corrections within 24 hours. Six hour same-day service is also available.
RasterLab offers its services to clients worldwide and has been created for catalogers, publishers, direct mailers, photo studies and other companies who would like to offload conversions and color processing. The system works by downloading the LabCourier software to either a Mac or a PC. The user then creates a private account.
Clients create a Color Correction Master file, which is used as the delivery file, on their desktop and send their images in EPS, TIFF, JPEG or Scitex CT format to RasterLab.com. RasterLab then processes the files and notifies the client by e-mail once the job is complete. The user then downloads the Color Correct Packet file, or the return file and can either apply the corrections to the original images file or save the corrections as separate images.
