If you’re a musician, art director or performance artist looking for Mac OS X compatible music visualization tools, you’re in luck.
today announced that its VJ software, ArKaos VJ 2.1.2, is now Mac OS X compatible, as it its special effects authoring kit, ArKaos VMP 2.1.2.
ArKaos’s software is used by pro musicians including David Bowie, The Chemical Brothers, Jean-Michel Jarre, Fatboy Slim and U2, according to the developer. They’ve also been used corporations including Ford and Apple.
ArKaos VJ has been developed as a real-time multimedia tool for professional VJs, installation and event artists. Artists can work with their own image and movie files along with a variety of different effect types and sequences. The software enables users to adjust a variety of parameters and it supports full MIDI suites both on-screen and off, as well as music authoring programs like Cubase.
System requirements for ArKaos VJ call for a PowerPC 601/100 MHz or faster (G3 or better recommended); Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X 10.1 or higher; 32MB RAM, 64MB recommended; MP3 player software; QuickTime 4.x or higher; 20MB free HD space.
ArKaos VJ 2.1.2 is the new Mac OS X 10.1 compatible version. It sports a multi-language installer that works in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, a brand new interface skin, automatic beat-matching, effects multi-layering and chaining, MIDI latch on/off for live performances, new real-time effects and double monitoring management. The software costs US$300
ArKaos VMP 2.1.2 is now Mac OS X compatible, as well. The software is more oriented toward home or business users who want to develop graphical effect videos to show off digital music collections. The developer says it’s suitable for parties, business presentations, slide shows, even electronic art installations. It uses still images rather than movies, but still offers a wide variety of features and functions.
VMP features drag and drop support, and comes pre-loaded with a set of images as well as customizable effects types. VMP allows you to play live and record your own visual files to music and other media types. It also features beat-matching technology to synchronize with the percussion and bass-lines of music.
ArKaos VMP 2.1.2 features the same system requirements as VJ 2.1.2 and sports many of the same enhancements — a multi-language installer, new interface skin, beat-matching, effects double-layering, and new real-time effects. VMP costs $36.
