wrapped up over the weekend. The event took place at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, England and show coordinators indicated that it took in 21,163 visitors during its three day run. Organizer Bob Denton said that MacExpo “exceeded all expectations” of its media partners, exhibitors and organizing teams.
Apple UK and Ireland sales director and general manager Mark Rogers called the event “a highly successful gathering for the Macintosh community in the UK.” Rogers also said that MacExpo garnered extremely positive reactions from attendees and Apple partners alike. Predictably, Apple’s new iPod digital music and FireWire storage device was a hot seller at this year’s event. Vendors selling iPods at their booths sold out of their supplies at the show.
MacExpo was home to more than 70 new product launches, according to the event’s coordinators, who plan to do it all over again next year. MacExpo will happen in the same location from November 21-23, 2002; some exhibitors have already confirmed attendance for next year. The show’s promoters plan to add a conference program and a second exhibit hall for the 2002 event.
