Apple has released a new update for the Mac OS X-native version of its AppleWorks integrated productivity suite. The new version is 6.2.2, and is available in the form of an updater that’s downloadable from Apple’s AppleWorks Web site.
AppleWorks combines word processing, page layout, painting, spreadsheet, database and presentation functions into one integrated package. The software is available both for older versions of Mac OS and Mac OS X, and this new update is specifically for the Mac OS X version only.
“This free update of AppleWorks adds frequently requested features, including the ability to read and write Microsoft Word and Excel files, enhanced formatting tools, faster downloading of Internet templates, improved networking compatibility and more,” said Apple.
Apple cautioned users of Mac OS X 10.1 to update to 6.2.2 “for added compatibility and performance enhancements.”
