Microsoft released an update tonight to fix a problem first encountered by users a few weeks ago that denied them access to their Hotmail accounts. To date Microsoft has released updates fixing the problem for Outlook Express and Entourage 2001 users.
In late October, Microsoft’s Hotmail servers were updated to provide increased security via centralized Passport authentication. These security updates disabled the ability for Microsoft’s Mac e-mail applications to access or send e-mail from Hotmail.
Microsoft indicated at the time that when users tried to access their accounts, one or all of the following could occur: All Hotmail folders disappear; no folders appear after the configuration of a Hotmail account; the following error appears: The Hotmail folder list could not be received; and an HTTP error could occur — The server cannot fulfill the request. Error: 1500
The 2.1MB updater can be downloaded from Microsoft’s Web site.
