Ricoh Corp. has a new Mac compatible product: the Aficio 1018D digital imaging system, though it’s not for the average home user.
The US$3,650 duplex system is designed for small, corporate workgroups that need an all-in-one solution for copying, faxing and network printing. And it offers two-sided output and versatile paper capacity, according to Jim Ivy, president of Ricoh’s Office Products Group.
The printer option for the Aficio 1018D provides standard duplex printing and networking capabilities for Macs or PCs, though there doesn’t seem to be any Mac OS X drivers for it yet. The fax option sports a “Super G3 transmission speed,” dual access, automatic duplex transmission and the ability to send and receive up to 11- x 17-inch documents, Ivy said.
Ricoh also offers a set of document solutions that are compatible with the Aficio 1018D, including: SmartNetMonitor, for monitoring and managing printer peripherals from your desktop; the “Printer Cost and Security Manager,” for monitoring the total cost of ownership and enabling secure printing; and “E-Cabinet” for storing and retrieving documents.
