DvGarage, a QuickTime-only site dedicated to “building the next generation of visual media artists, has a new entry in their ongoing tutorial series.
Alex Lindsay, a former member of Industrial Light and Magic’s “Rebel Unit” and founder of dvGarage, continues the series with a step-by-step modeling and rendering how-to for a beaker used on the site. The tutorial steps beyond simple rendering and really gets into the post process required to make the 3D element work, he said.
“It may seem like a simple object but the approach and techniques are easily applicable to many areas, ” Lindsay said. “It’s really about creating photo-real work for the Web and print. It’s not just about finding stock art. Creating it is now within every artist’s reach.”
The tutorial is dvGarage’s 14th. It adds to over four hours of free streaming tutorials on the site already that observe the world from a computer artist’s point of view and tries to recreate that world through easy to follow animated tutorials.
