Version 2.5 of MPEG Power Professional is now available from HEURIS.
The latest version of the professional software MPEG encoder software is up to 50 percent faster than the 2.0 version, provides higher resolution scaling, improved handling of titles and improved vector matching resulting in improved handling of high speed video and panoramic pans, according to the company.
MPEG Power Professional 2.5 runs significantly faster, allowing users to encode their projects in a fraction of the time previously required, Brian Quandt, president of HEURIS, said. But this increase in speed does not come at the expense of image quality, he said.
“In fact, MPEG Power Professional 2.5 includes features that offer overall image quality enhancements and new image processing capabilities,” he added. “Users no longer have to make the choice between quality and speed; both can be achieved using MPEG Power Professional.”
MPEG Power Professional 2.5 also provides better digital video support on the Mac, directly supports DirectX on PCs, includes AC-3 mixing abilities in DVD version as well as a more efficient transport multiplexer, Quandt said.
MPEG Power Professional 2.5 costs US$799. Current MPEG Power Professional customers are eligible for discounts on the upgrade, but it’s not available in a Carbonized version yet.
HEURIS is also working on MPEG Power Professional HD, which the company says will be the world’s first software product to encode AVI, QuickTime and OMF files directly to ATSC HDTV resolution at 19.2Mbps.
