Nisus Software, Inc. today announced the release of
Nisus Email 1.6, the latest version of their e-mail client software. The software runs on Mac OS X, and is available as a free upgrade to registered users of previous versions.
Nisus Software president and CEO Jerzy Lewak noted that this is the first product Nisus has released to run natively on Mac OS X. “This version adds several requested features and gives users of OS X the unique advantages of e-mail sending using the DragSend and the Dispatch folder features of the Classic version,” said Lewak.
Other changes in Nisus Email 1.6 include:
SMTP authorization is now supported.
E-mail message flags added (forwarded, replied to, and priority).
Foreign character sets supported for both incoming and outgoing file attachment names.
Nicknames are autoexpanded in any To:, CC:, and BCC: fields.
Each user personality now has a reply-to address.
Incoming e-mails with foreign character set encodings are automatically displayed in the proper font if possible.
Nisus Software noted that Nisus Email was developed using REAL Software’s REALbasic 3.5.2.
System requirements for Nisus Email 1.6 call for Mac OS 8.5 or later, or Mac OS X 10.0.0 or later. The cost to purchase Nisus Email 1.6 is US$29.95; it is available as a download from Nisus Software’s Web site. A 14-day demo version is also available.
