Nemetschek North America (formerly Diehl Graphsoft) today announced the release of the 9.5 VectorWorks Industry Series. Comprised of VectorWorks, RenderWorks, ARCHITECT, SPOTLIGHT and LANDMARK, the new Industry Series is the first in Nemetschek’s product line to work natively under Mac OS X. The updates are available as free downloads for registered VectorWorks 9 users.
The VectorWorks Industry Series products provide Mac users with a variety of different and varied 2D drafting and 3D design tools. Nemetschek North America said that the new and improved 9.5 versions sport performance enhancements, improved printing and reliability improvements, too.
The announcement about the release of the new 9.5 products ends a period of public beta testing. Nemetschek North America CTO Sean Flaherty said that the public beta process enabled his company to identify “scores of bugs” that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. “By testing publicly, we are able to address important issues such as printing, as a result of the many combinations of factors that open testing can produce,” said Flaherty.
Nemetschek North America noted that as Mac OS X-native applications, the 9.5 VectorWorks Industry Series products take advantage of Mac OS X’s Aqua interface, protected memory, pre-emptive multitasking, advanced memory management and symmetric multitasking.
“Nemetschek North America acknowledges that a good portion of its installed base does not have the required bandwidth to download the 9.5 updates. Those users should visit the company website to request the update on a CD that will be mailed directly to them,” said the company.
