MindAvenue, the folks who develop interactive technologies for the Web, will launch new versions of AXELcore (1.5) and AXELedge (1.5) for Mac OS X at next month’s Macworld San Francisco.
Both products are targeted to designers and artists and provide an authoring solution for interactive 3D Web content creation. Version 1.5 of both products sport complete QuickTime texture support, new cartoon and wireframe rendering capabilities and a streamlined Aqua user interface.
AXELcore 1.5, built for creative professionals working in Web design, is “Carbonized” so it is compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. It enables professionals to create 3D content “easily, within a familiar and streamlined workflow,” but without programming knowledge or technical expertise, according to Benoit Cloutier, MindAvenue’s vice president of research and development. With version 1.5’s publishing features, users can preview and simulate content integrated within the final Web page design in producing Web-ready files.
AXELedge 1.5, also compatible with both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9, is built for 3D animators working in design, entertainment, education, 3D visualization and Web development. It includes all the features of AXELcore 1.5 and adds character animation and scripting capabilities.
AXELcore 1.5 costs US$395, while AXELedge 1.5 is $950. More info can be found at the MindAvenue Web site.
The company also makes an AXEL plug-in player that delivers multi-platform content on Mac and Windows systems for both Internet Explorer and Netscape. The player automatically downloads on the surfer’s machine when viewing content for the first time.
