A special holiday bundle of Media Metastasis’ ZyGoVideo Pro and Totally Hip’s HipFlics 1.1 for Mac OS X is now available. The ZyGoVideo Pro compressor and HipFlics 1.1 bundle for OS X is available now for a limited time for US$129 from the Media Metastasis Web site. Individual Pro licenses for Mac OS 8/9 and Windows are also reduced for the holidays from $79 to $59. HipFlics can be purchased individually from the Totally Hip Web site for $99 and is available for OS 9, OS X and Windows.
“This is the first compression bundle aimed at the majority of Mac OS X video creators,” said Rod Sheffield, president and CEO of Media Metastasis.
ZyGoVideo is a codec for QuickTime and QuickTime Pro that compresses and decompresses video files to deliver broadcast-quality video at lower transmission speeds. The basic decompression component is automatically downloaded from the QuickTime Component Download site when playing clips compressed with ZyGoVideo and the next release of the QuickTime Player will include an integrated ZyGoVideo decoder.
ZyGoVideo provides a full set of professional compression settings to control data rate, quality and encode/decode speed for a nearly limitless number of video sources, Sheffield said.
The company said that ZyGoVideo Pro offers better color space for key frames; precise key frame placement; key frame sensitivity selection; motion sensitivity selection; smoothing video setting; preset values for Media Cleaner Pro; and a tutorial guide for better compression.
ZyGoVideo is based on wavelets compression. This compression technology has been under development for over eight years to support JPEG 2000 stills and video teleconferencing applications. The ZyGoVideo version of this technology will use the “aggressive compression” capabilities of JPEG 2000 and the video teleconferencing characteristics to enable “excellent streaming video.”
HipFlics is a digital video enhancing, compressing and processing tool. It can be used as a standalone product or in conjunction with other digital video or Web authoring products such as LiveStage Professional. HipFlics is a QuickTime based tool that makes use of the QuickTime movie format.
HipFlics lets users prepare the digital video being created today for use on Web sites, streaming over the Internet or sending around the world. Users can crop, rotate, apply filters or effects, add watermarking and compress the video and audio to get it to a useable or refined state. HipFlics also includes features such as multiple compression codec application, batch processing, both preset and customizable settings, settings memory and original movie retention. HipFlics also offers users a live before and after feature to enable previewing prior to exporting.
“HipFlics does for video compression what Apple’s iMovie does for video editing,” David Dicaire, CEO and president of Totally Hip, said. “With HipFlics a person no longer needs a PH.D in encoding to produce high quality video for the Web or CD-ROM. It was the first compression tool to be made available for Mac OS X.”
