Writing in the MacCentral games forum, MacSoft product coordinator Nate Birkholz recently left a short but pointed message to let Mac gamers know that in all likelihood, Myth III: The Wolf Age won’t be under their Christmas tree this year. It’s still on track for release on the Mac, but just not in time for the upcoming holiday, it would seem.
“Sad news, but I’m afraid it is now nearly impossible to ship in time for Christmas. We are obviously very disappointed by this, but I thought it only fair to let you know,” said Birkholz.
Myth III: The Wolf Age is the squad-level 3D real-time strategy game originally developed by MumboJumbo Games and soon to be published for the Macintosh by MacSoft. It’s the sequel to two other games originally published and developed by Bungie Software. Released for the PC in November, Myth III’s Mac conversion has been plagued with development problems since then. Many of the problems relate to how the game works with Mac OS X; it has been developed to support both Mac OS X and older Mac OS versions.
In Myth III: The Wolf Age, players assume the role of Connacht the Wolf, the greatest of mankind’s heros. Connacht must save mankind from the Myrkridia and Trow. The game is set a millennium before the events depicted in the previous games, Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth II: Soulblighter.
