REALbasic 4 will ship next month from REAL Software. If you buy the current version, 3.5, between now and then, you’ll be eligible for a free upgrade when REALbasic 4 ships.
REALbasic is designed to allow programmers of all skill levels to develop their software with a single set of user interface elements and code to compile native applications for Macintosh, Mac OS X and Windows without requiring any platform-specific adjustments.
Improvements to the IDE make using REALbasic 4 easier and users more productive, according to Geoff Perlman, president and CEO of REAL Software. Enhancements to the EditField, ListBox, Canvas, Shell, multimedia components and more provide greater flexibility, he added. And External Project Items, compiled RbScript and more make REALbasic 4 more powerful, Perlman said.
REALbasic is available for US$149.95 for the Personal Edition and $349.95 for the Professional Edition packages, direct from REAL Software. Academic and volume discounts, as well as license-only options are available. Upgrades to REALbasic 4 range from $29.95 to $89.95 for owners of REALbasic 3.5. In addition to US English, REALbasic is available in Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.
