FirewireDirect.com said that it will soon ship its DV WebCam with drivers that will make the camera work on Mac OS X. The company said that it’s the first FireWire-based Webcam to be supported on Mac OS X.
FirewireDirect.com’s support of Mac OS X with its FireWire-based DV WebCam is the result of a licensing agreement with IOXperts, the developer that crafted the DV WebCam drivers FirewireDirect.com uses for Mac OS 9.x. The drivers have been in beta development up until now. FirewireDirect.com noted that the 1.0 drivers will soon be released; the company anticipates bundling the 1.0 driver with the DV WebCam on December 21, 2001.
FirewireDirect.com said that customers who already own FirewireDirect WebCams would be able to buy the drivers direct from IOXperts at a reduced price.
