With many Mac users likely to get a new system for Christmas, MacTreasures figures this is the best time to remind folks about the Macintosh Computer Donation Program.
MacTreasures helps to coordinate the donation of older Mac computers to schools and nonprofit organizations who can benefit from some pre-owned hardware. The company maintains a database of donors who have Macs and organizations looking for them; since the program’s inception in 1999, they’ve managed to match up givers and getters to facilitate about 1,000 donations. MacTreasures even has volunteers in some locations to help set up equipment. A gift certificate program for schools is also available.
“MacTreasures’ role in this program is solely to provide donors a listing of schools or non-profits near them that are interested in receiving Macintosh computer donations,” said the company.
If you have a Mac you’d like to donate, or if you represent a school you’d like to have included in the program, please e-mail MacTreasures for more details.
