dvGarage, a QuickTime-only site dedicated to “building the next generation of visual media artists,” has announced the development of the 3D Toolkit for Mac OS X. The 3D Toolkit is a Mac only visual training system.
The 3D Toolkit is designed as a visual training system that ships with a full version of the Electric Image 2.9 software. Its goal is to teach 3D principles and techniques to visual artists in all industries, Alex Lindsay, founder of dvGarage, told MacCentral.
The 3D Toolkit can teach 3D principles and techniques to visual artists at all levels and in all industries, he added. The Mac OS X upgrade will ship with Electric Image’s Universe 3DToolkit software for the next generation operating system. The disc will also include project files for the 3D Toolkit tutorials and selected dvGarage Web site tutorials, all converted to the Mac OS X 3D Toolkit format.
The 3D Toolkit is the first in a series of visual training products dvGarage will develop in its commitment to foster a global community of visual media developers, Lindsay said. It recently won the Best Buy award from Digit Magazine.
The 3D Toolkit, which is US$199, is made up of five parts: the tools, an overview, basic tutorials, advanced tutorial and bonus materials. If you bought the 3D Toolkit after Nov. 1 you’ll get, for the cost of shipping and handling, the X upgrade free. Other customers of the 3D Toolkit can upgrade to the Mac OS X version for $49 plus shipping. Additional information about the 3D Toolkit can be found at the product Web site.
What’s more, Electric Image has announced the availability of upgrading the included Universe software to the commercial version of Universe 4.0 at a special introductory price.
