Bare Bones Software today released an update to BBEdit, its popular Macintosh HTML and text-editing tool.
The new version of BBEdit, 6.5.1, gains language support for Java Server Pages (JSP) and an improved version of the “bbedit” command-line tool. The “bbedit” tool enables users to utilize the software as an external editor for Unix programs running on Mac OS X.
Improvements for running Unix scripts (like Perl, Python and shell scripts), a scriptable “Preview as Text” command, and a simplified interface for choosing a default Mac OS API reference have also been incorporated. Other enhancements and bug fixes have also been included. (Complete info on what’s changed in this new build can be found at the BBEdit Web site.)
A BBEdit 6.5.1 update package is ready for download from the Bare Bones Software Web site now. The upgrade is free to all registered BBEdit 6.5 users.
