The folks at Media 100 — the provider of software, systems and services for streaming media on the Internet — have been busy little bees. Besides shipping CineStream, they’ve announced audio:box, and are also shipping Cleaner MPEG Charger.
Developed by the Media 100 Services division as a turnkey solution for clients in need of a high-volume audio encoding solution, audio:box enables these high volume encoding facilities to convert audio assets from audio CD, CD-ROM or DVD-ROM to any streaming media format, including MP3, Windows Media, RealAudio, QuickTime and .WAV.
audio:box — described as ” the industry’s first fully automated stream publishing system for capturing, encoding and managing high-quality digital audio content” — leverages the encoding technology of Media 100’s Cleaner 5 software to ensure the highest-quality creation of multi-format digital audio content, according to Jim Baker, vice president of Media 100 Services. Cleaner 5 is Media 100’s camera-to-Web streaming media design solution that creates streaming content in four steps (capturing, authoring, encoding and publishing).
“Originally developed for our own service facilities in New York and Hollywood, we’re now making audio:box available for clients who wish to take production in-house,” Baker said. “We’ve leveraged the technology innovations from within Media 100 such as Cleaner 5 to produce a fully-automated turnkey encoding service for our clients. With audio:box, our clients can capture, convert and publish audio tracks from up to CDs in multiple formats in a fully-automated rack-mounted system.”
audio:box is available immediately and pricing is “available upon request,” according to Media 100.
Media 100 also said that Cleaner MPEG Charger — a software-only MPEG solution for Cleaner 5 users is now available.
Cleaner MPEG Charger features include: enhanced MPEG-1 encoding; complete MPEG-2 encoding; support for one- and two-pass variable bitrate (VBR) encoding for best possible quality at any bitrate; settings for all popular MPEG encoding situations for “great” results in minutes; customization for virtually all aspects of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding; MPEG encoding directly from Cleaner 5; and direct export from many popular video editing systems, according to Stephen Manousos, vice president of sales and marketing for Media 100’s software division.
“Charger adds value to Cleaner 5 by enabling unprecedented flexibility and speed by optimizing video for DVD content and the Web,” he said.
Cleaner MPEG Charger is priced at US $499.
