Finnish shareware developers Thunderwizard Software have announced the release of a new 2D action game for the Mac — Zroids. The game sports classic “old school” style gameplay with support for up to four human opponents.
In Zroids, you maneuver your ship through different levels while trying to eliminate your opponents without getting yourself killed. Players collect up to 16 different weapons and can select from six different ship types.
Up to four human opponents can play against each other, and Zroids can also accommodate two additional computer-controlled players for a total of six players altogether. Zroids sports 16-bit graphics and six levels. Thunderwizard Software indicates that registered users will be able to download new levels from Thunderwizard’s Web site, and players can craft their own using third party tools.
Distributed as shareware, Zroids costs US$10 to register. The game requires a PowerPC-equipped Mac; Mac OS 8.1 or later; 6MB available HD space; 10MB of RAM; and support for thousands of colors.
