There’s a petition underway to save Clarus the Dogcow, the creature of dubious genetics that pops up as an icon in the Mac operating system.
In the current pre-release beta of Mac OS X, Apple has removed Clarus from not only the Printer setup/page options, but the entire system. The petition, created by “developers and icon lovers everywhere” and written by Tom Buzzeo of Artifice is designed to see “Clarus gets put back in the System where she belongs.”
“Apple values it’s customers input and it is my hope that the resounding cries of Moof! from the public will be heard,” Buzzeo says in the petition.
The “Save Our Dogcow” petition is hosted at www.PetitionOnline.com as a public service. The petition scripts were created by Mike Wheeler at Artifice. And as the legal disclaimer notes, there’s “no express or implied endorsement of this petition by Artifice” (the company behind Design Workshop, a cross-platform, 3D modeling application) or PetitionOnline’s sponsors.
(Thanks to MacCentral reader, John Zwendel, for the heads-up on this one.)
