Mac Care Unit now available in retail

Casady & Greene have announced the retail release of Mac Care Unit, their collection of seven different utilities to help Mac users diagnose and solve problems on their systems.

Casady & Greene have put together the Mac Care Package by bundling products developed by Alsoft Inc., Connectix Corp., and Intego. The software enables Mac users diagnose, cure and prevent problems with their systems. The package includes:

Conflict Catcher 8 by Casady & Greene — a utility which enables users to conflict-test startup files.

Chaos Master, also from Casady & Greene — a disk utility which enables users to organize their hard drives by removing duplicate or unwanted files, fixing broken files and aliases, and more.

DiskWarrior by Alsoft — prevents and eliminates directory damage on your hard disk.

PlusOptimizer by Alsoft — defragments files and consolidates free space on hard disks.

copyAgent by Connectix — automates backups, copies and file synchronization.

NetBarrier by Intego — the personal Internet firewall security software.

VirusBarrier by Intego — a virus detection and eradication utility.

The Mac Care Unit is developed to work with Mac OS 8.1 – 9.1. Conflict Catcher’s Clean-Install System Merge feature is optimized for the US operating system specifically, and Copy Agent requires Mac OS 8.5 or later.

The Mac Care Unit, which was first unveiled at January’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco, is shipping to retail stores now. The software carries an estimated street price of US$129.95 (it would cost over $400 if you bought all the software separately).
