QPS is now shipping its Que! M2 QuadSlim palm-size portable drives. They’re small (under a half pound), external FireWire hard drives that can be powered from a FireWire-equipped computer or an included power adapter.
With three built-in FireWire connectors, you can stack and daisy-chain up to five devices in a tower configuration with just one FireWire 1394 cable. The drives come in four configurations: 6GB priced at US$279, 10GB at $379, 20GB at $479, and 30GB at $579. Because of their small size, the stacked drives can easily be moved from one computer to another, says Pierre Abboud, vice president of QPS. Que! M2 QuadSlim drives are compatible with FireWire-enabled Macs and PCs and will ship by the end of the month.
“The Que! M2 QuadSlims are so small and lightweight, a user can carry one in a pocket, clip it to a belt or attach it to any smooth surface with our unique mounting cup,” Abboud says in a statement. “These drives allow the user to transport large amounts of data files, videos, MP3s, etc., safely and easily.”
The drive has a buffer size of 1024K and a transfer rate up to 16.6 Mbytes per second. The Que! M2 can be carried in a pocket, clipped to a belt or attached to any smooth surface with the QPS mounting suction cup. Retrospect Express Backup software is included with the drives, as is a formatting utility by CharisMac.
“The Retrospect Express Backup will provide our customers with the ability to do unattended incremental backups with flexible media rotation,” said Abboud.
