PlayerPro 5.8 incorporates new functions, fixes bugs

Quadmation Inc. has announced the release of PlayerPRO, a new version of its electronic music editing and playback software. The new version can be downloaded from Quadmation’s Web site.

PlayerPRO features the ability to load and play a wide variety of multiplatform audio file formats, including: MOD, S3M, MIDI, MTM, MADH, MADG, MADI, MADK, OKTA, MINS, XI, PP, Clip File, MED, 669, IT, ULT, XM System 7 sound, WAV, AIFF, AIFC, SoundDesignerII, MPEG, MP3, MuLaw, ALaw, AVI, DVC, Quicktime Movies, MAC3, MAC6, IMA4, MPEG layer I, II and III (requires QT 4.0), PAT (GUS), QDesign, RAW Data. PlayerPRO is available both as a full commercial application and also as a freeware app with a more limited (but still powerful) feature set.

Changes in version 5.8 include:

New envelopes function (linear interpolation)

Volumes are now computed on 16bits, much better sound quality

Bug corrections in registration system

Faster Oscilloscope for all systems (including with VM ON and in Mac OS X)

MADK File Icon corrected

Many small GUI improvements

Support ASIO drivers (ASIO is a trademark of Steinberg Soft-und Hardware GmbH)

Fully compatible with the Appearance Manager

All 680X0 codes (MDEF, CDEF, WDEF) have been removed

Compiled with CodeWarrior 6, including new Carbon compatible headers

PlayerPRO 5.8 requires a PowerPC-based Mac; Mac OS 8.6 or higher; and 32MB RAM. A beta version for Mac OS X is also available for download. The full version of PlayerPRO costs US$69.
